What is Coronavirus: Causes, Symptoms, and Treatments

Novel coronavirus or COVID – 2019 has become the latest crisis in the world with thousands of deaths. Day by day the infected people found in every corner in the world. The reasons are the easily transmitted ways of the virus. So it’s better to know about Coronavirus causes, symptoms and treatments.

This virus firstly appears on the 31st of December 2019 from Wuhan city China. Also, 7th January 2020 China confirmed they identify a new virus and its name as Novel Coronavirus (NCoV). Later WHO (World Health Organization) named it COVID – 19.

Why Novel Coronavirus Is Dangerous?

The new Coronavirus did not match with the other viruses. So doctors don’t know how its effect on the people and the exact treatments for the infections.

Most importantly it’s never found in earlier.

Besides, it spread among others before it feels and shows symptoms after two weeks. And also it spread one person to at least five people. So day by day it spread rapidly.

Behaviors Of The Novel Coronavirus Or COVID-19

The Novel Coronavirus or COVID – 2019 include to a large family. Normal Coronavirus may start with the common cold. But can increase to the more severe diseases such as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV).

It attacks the upper respiratory system of the human.

A Virus can’t develop by itself. So they need to find a suitable place for their metabolism to work.

This virus has RNA also known as virus genome. This RNA not stable like DNA. So viruses easily get distorted. Therefore generation to generation virus characteristics gets change. That’s the problem. Because of that if a virus comes with new characteristics current management systems will be not sufficient.

This is what exactly happened with the Novel coronavirus – 2019 or COVID -19. Also, the Nucleotide sequences of the new coronavirus are different from the SARS and MERS.

At first, the virus entered the upper respiratory system ( nose, sinuses, pharynx, larynx) then it’s Spike glycoprotein join with the Epithelial cells. After that virus, RNA entered the Epithelial cells and this is known as infection.

A Virus needs to make amino acids to create proteins for there development. So they take down the glucose in our cell and make amino acids. After that, it combined all amino acids and make RNA Polymerase.

The virus provides it’s RNA information and uses human cell ingredients to make what it needs. At that time the human cell is under arrest by the virus.

Now RNA Polymerase works on the RNA and makes copies of it.

Because of this sequence action, our cell can produce so many RNA and viral proteins. This virus RNA entered to the RER (rough endoplasmic reticulum) and also viral protein connect to it. It’s the birth of a new virus.

Like this, it makes many viruses and destroyed the human cell to release them. If we can’t stop this our respiratory system will get damage or lead to other serious respiratory diseases.

The Origin of Novel Coronavirus

Coronavirus considers as a Zoonotic virus. Which means it’s transmitted between animals and people. The early investigations are found the MERS–CoV (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome –Corona Virus) transmitted camels to humans. Also SARS – CoV (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome – Corona Virus transmitted from birds to humans. MERS and SARS are powerfull attacks from the coronavirus family.

There is a doubt the navel Corona Virus (2019 – nCov/COVID-19) transmitted from the Chinese cobra and also from the Bats from the meat shop in Wuhan. But the exact transmitted way not found yet.

It was a common virus among animals that have not infected humans earlier.

How the Novel Corona Virus Spread?

– From the Air
– From the close contacts with patients
– Using raw meats

The most dangerous thing is this virus can be transmitted from one person to at least five persons.

Common Sign of Infections

• Fever
• Shortness of breath
• Other breathing difficulties
• Respiratory Symptoms

What are Respiratory Symptoms?

– dyspnea – the difficulty of breathing
– tachypnea – rapid breathing
– hypopnea – shallow breathing
– hyperpnea – deep breathing
– apnea – the absence of breathing
– Coughing with drops of blood
– Cough gets increase by the time
– Normal cough or with yellow, light brown or green mucus
– Fever and chills
– Runny nose
– Sore throat

In more severe cases, coronavirus infection causes

– Kidney Failure
– Pneumonia
– Severe acute respiratory syndrome
– Death

Treatments for Noval Coronavirus

There are no treatment or vaccine for the novel Coronavirus. It should recover on its own. But the United States Institute of Health confirmed they are at the preliminary stage of developing new vaccines for the virus.
And also this novel Coronavirus was similar to the SARS. But there is some important differences as well. They are running nose, sneezing, and sore throat and also symptoms like diarrhea.

How to Prevent Infection?

According to the latest updates (18.02.2020), 1868 people die by the novel coronavirus and 72436 people infected by the virus in China.
Therefore, it is necessary to follow safety procedures to prevent and spread the virus.

Here are the things you must do to Prevent Infections.

– Wash your hands when it’s visibly dirty using running water with soap or rub hands using alcohol.

You must wash your hands when

• After sneezing and coughing
• After caring for the sick patient
• Before eating foods
• Before preparing foods
• After toilet use
• After handling animals or playing

– Protect yourself from getting an infection

Avoid contact with people who have a cold, cough and fever. Don’t touch their mouth, nose eyes. Also, avoid contact with live animal farms or wild animals. Frequently care about your personal hygiene. If you feel sick please stay at home.

-Use a face mask and cover your mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing.

Cover your nose and mouth when sneezing and coughing using tissue, your sleeve or elbow. It helps to spread the virus to others. After using the tissue put it into the closed trash bin.

– Practice safety food procedures

Use clean knives and utensils when making foods. Also, use clean chopping boards while preparing meats. Always wash your hands handling raw foods and cooked foods. Focus on what you eat. Should not eat animals that sick and animals died because of diseases.
Your area may safe from the Virus, but use cooked meat and animal food products.

In addition before traveling if you feel sick please stay at home and meet your doctor. Besides while traveling eats only well prepared and cooked foods.

-Don’t let your throat get dry

If your throat gets dry easily, drink lukewarm water regularly. Because dry throat helps the virus to enter the human body.
